I was delighted to be a part of the London Design Festival this year, which was a week long festival, filled with panel discussions, exhibitions, and pop-ups.
It all started with a panel discussion at Decorex 2018, in which I was requested to be the chair, with the theme being Deconstructing the brief: the importance of form, function and understanding your client’s vision.
In this discussion, I offered questions to the panellists discussing the essential job of establishing and truly understanding a client brief. They explored the importance of establishing exactly what the client requires at the earliest stage in the design process and interrogating the brief so that expectations match the results of the finished project.
I jumped on the bus to Chelsea Harbour with Mia, our new admin assistant in the BIID office, to host afternoon tea at the Espresso Design showroom, for networking and discussion. Lots of lovely cakes, and the odd glass of Prosecco.
After a day in the studio catching up on all our many projects, I then whisked off to the Sunday Times British Homes Awards on Thursday at the Marriott Hotel Grosvenor square, London. The BIID had sponsored three awards, which I was presenting with the very talented Lucy Worsley.
After an amazing full day and evening of awards ceremonies, and quietly fan-girling at being next to Lucy Worsley, I was hosting the BIID Design Function Breakfast very early Friday morning, at the LDF pop-up in Doon street. After the breakfast, we did a tour to meet the exhibitors to learn about their very exciting furniture and lighting.
